Google is discontinuing the Chromecast Audio.

We picked up this news via The Verge and GSM Arena and we are bummed. Google has announced that they will stop selling the Chromecast Audio. A Google’s spokesperson was quoted as saying:

Our product portfolio continues to evolve, and now we have a variety of products for users to enjoy audio. We have therefore stopped manufacturing our Chromecast Audio products. We will continue to offer assistance for Chromecast Audio devices, so users can continue to enjoy their music, podcasts and more.

The Chromecast Audio is a heaven sent product which enabled non-smart speakers to be connected. This allowed you to cast Spotify for example, to a set of dated speakers that do not have Internet connectivity. And now, we’re left with no other product offering form Google that does what the Chromecast Audio does.

We here at Jumpadevice love the Chromecast Audio. It breathed life into the Q Acoustics BT3 which showed the limitations of bluetooth audio quality. It will forever be a treasured possession.

If you’re looking to buy one, do get it quickly as one could expect that it will be sold out soon.
