Libratone ZIPP 2 has changeable covers and Alexa.

Announced at IFA2018 from the Danish headphone and speaker company Libratone is the ZIPP 2.

The ZIPP 2 is a portable speaker that’s sure to bring some fun into the living room or outdoors. It measures at a height of 26.1 cm (10.3 inches), width of 12.2 cm (4.8 inches) and weighs 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs). Connecting to the ZIPP 2 is versatile with Bluetooth (4.1 aptx) or WiFi. On top of that you can cast your music using Spotify Connect and Apple’s AirPlay 2. In the sound department, it has a 4” Neodymium Woofer and a 1×1” Soft dome neodymium tweeter.

The voice assistant Libratone has chosen is Amazon Alexa. So expect the usual functionality of using Alexa; time, weather, smart home, etc. One nice feature of the ZIPP 2 is the Preset button located at the top. You can set it to play a playlist or launch a radio station. This preset button is similar to the one that we reported on the Urbanears Lotsen.

The ZIPP 2 supports multi-room playback with up to 10 speakers. You don’t have to go too far though as connecting 2 speakers would already give you stereo sound. Other bits to mention is the battery and the changeable covers. The battery is advertised to last 12 hours which is not too bad. Don’t like the current colour on your ZIPP 2? Not a problem. Change it by unzipping and zipping a new cover.
