Mobvoi has just launched their latest smartwatch; the Ticwatch Pro. This is their top of the line model from their existing range; TicWatch S&E, Ticwatch Active and Ticwatch Classic. It runs on Google’s Wear OS and is powered by the Snapdragon Wear 2100. You get 512MB of ram and a 4GB storage.
What sets the Ticwatch Pro apart from the previous models is the dual layered screen. The top layer, dubbed ‘Essential Mode’ is an LCD screen which only shows what needs to be shown – the time. This is a monochrome layer like the ones you find on G-Shock watches. The layer beneath it is called the ‘Smart Mode’ and this is where the meat is. It is an AMOLED screen with a resolution of 400 x 400, has multi-touch AND is also HDR supported. Battery life for the ‘Essential Mode’ is 2 days while the ‘Smart Mode’ gives you 30 days. Mixed usage between the two will give you a 5 – 30 days.
Other features include the ability to install apps like Spotify, FB Messenger, Google Pay and Telegram. Google Assistant is also present so asking the usual commands like “What’s the weather?” is a breeze. For health contious users the Ticwatch Pro comes with a built-in GPS tracker, Heart-rate monitor, Steps counter, Calories counter and Speed & cadence monitor. It’s also worth mentioning that it’s water and dust proof (IP68).
