Amazon has just launched a unique feature for Alexa which allows you to create custom interactions. It’s called Alexa Skill Blueprints. With Alexa Skill Blueprints, you can do things like say “Alexa, open Family Jokes” and Alexa will read aloud jokes that you have entered. Today we will take a quick look at the skills that standout.
If you’re an Airbnb host, the Houseguest skill can provide a unique way of helping your guests around. All you have to do is enter a list of help items before the guests arrive. Divided into three sections, you can determine the following:
Where to find things
Define objects in the property that the guests may want.
“Alexa, where is the TV remote?”
“It’s in the living room drawer. New batteries are provided”
How to do things
Define steps to get something done.
“Alexa, how do I get to the nearest grocery store?”
“The nearest grocery store is 50 metres down the road. It’s next to Burger King.”
Define the contact info of the hosts.
“Alexa, what is the contact?”
“Your host is Bob. The contact number is 0123456789.”
The next skill is a fun one. Burns is a way to roast your family and friends. The fun part? You get to write the insults.
Honestly, the default list is underwhelming.
After sprucing it up.
“Alexa, open my burns.”
“You again? Well, Yo momma’s teeth are so yellow, when she smiled at traffic, it slowed down.”
The Gameshow skill is an interactive game utilizing Echo Buttons as buzzers. Up to four buttons are supported. Perfect for a get-together after a meal with family and friends.
Setup the questions and answers.
The first person to press the Echo button gets to answer.
This skill is sure to amuse your kids. In Fairytale you craft your story by inserting sound affects, expressions and pauses to bring the story alive. Alexa will then narrate the story. The default story has two blanks for you to fill in two names which in this example are the characters in the story.
