The scene is this: You’re at work, preparing for a demo to show your client. You run through it a thousand times and it’s all good. You finally meet your client and your product refuses to work one bit. Sounds familiar eh? Just imagine this happening on stage at a live event.
LG at CES 2018 was showcasing their new LG Voice Assistant ‘CHLOi’ (pronounced as Chloe). One of the presenters on stage was LG’s Vice President of Marketing David VanderWaal. He started of by greeting “Hello CLOi”.CLOi replied “Good morning Dave, I hope you’re well. What can I do for you today?” He continued to ask about his schedule today and CLOi responded accordingly. So far so good.
Next, he talks about the LG ThinQ Washing Machine and asks “CLOi, Am I ready on my washing cycle?” No response from CLOi.
David then introduces the ThinQ Smart Fridge and asks “What’s for dinner tonight?” No response from CLOi. He then proceeds to elaborate further on the smart fridge function whereby the fridge is able to notify when produce are expiring; In this case a chicken. David asks “CLOi are you talking to me yet? What recipes can i make with chicken?” No response from CLOi.
You can watch the cringe-worthy clip here:
I have to say he kept his composure and continued the presentation as normal which is well commended.
