Apple’s HomePod is speaker first, Siri second.

Announced at WWDC 2017, Apple’s HomePod is the latest of voice assisted enabled speakers to enter the market. The HomePod measures in at only 7 inches tall and 5.5 inches wide and is encased in mesh fabric.

Using the A8 chip and 6 built-in microphones, it is able to analyze the makeup of the room and able to tune itself for optimal sound quality. It is powered by 7 tweeters and a woofer.



Two in one Room – If you have two HomePods in a room, both speakers can detect each other and tune themselves for even better immersion of sound.
AirPlay 2 – With AirPlay 2, you can have multiple HomePods in different rooms and have them play music simultaneously. For more info on AirPlay 2 head over to The Verge


Siri and Home Automation

HomePod is built in with Siri. In terms of music, you could ask it to play your favourite songs, and even ask questions like “Hey Siri, who’s the drummer in this song?”. In Addition, if you have smart devices that supports HomeKit, you could also issue commands through HomePod.


Price & Availability

HomePod is priced at USD 350 and comes in white and space grey. It will be available in December 2017 in U.S, U.K and Australia. Other countries will be getting it shortly after next year. Malaysia shouldn’t be too late in receiving it.
